8 programs to bring your customers back

Switch on the ones that suit your business, set the amounts, and BANDA takes care of the rest at every scan. Here is how each one works, what it does for you, and a worked example.

1 point = 1 franc offCustomers spend their points at the till, on any purchase they like. You can also give small change back as points.
Ready from the first scanThe programs suited to your sector are on as soon as you sign up: a stamp card for a bakery or a dry cleaner, cashback for a shop… Adjust them or add more whenever you like.
All included, all combinableNo program costs extra. Every active program applies together on the same visit.

Welcome bonus On by default

How it works

On a customer's very first visit, they receive free points. Once per customer: nobody can claim it twice.

What it does for you

A good reason to try your shop, and above all to come back: the free points can only be spent on a later visit.

You set

The number of free points (500 by default).

Boulangerie Le Croissant
Cotonou
  1. A new customer buys 1,500 F of bread and shows their QR code.
  2. They receive 500 welcome points.
  3. The next day, they pay 500 F less for their pastries.

A passing customer becomes one who comes back the very next day.

Cashback in points On by default

How it works

On every purchase, the customer earns a percentage of the amount paid as points. The cashier enters the amount when scanning; the maths is automatic.

What it does for you

A reward that is easy to understand and grows with the basket. Customers know they earn something every time they shop with you rather than next door.

You set

The rate (2% by default) and a cap on points per visit (1,000 by default).

Supérette Le Panier
Dakar, 2% cashback
  1. A customer does her weekly shop: 15,000 F, which earns 300 points.
  2. Over a month, 4 shops of the same size earn her 1,200 points.
  3. She spends them: 1,200 F off her next shop.

Her weekly shop happens at your store.

Stamp card

How it works

The paper loyalty card, but on the customer's phone. One stamp per visit; when the target is reached, they win the reward you chose. The cashier confirms the reward has been handed over, then the card starts again from zero.

What it does for you

A concrete, visible goal ("just 2 more visits"). Nothing to print, no lost cards and no sneaky extra stamps.

You set

  • the reward (a free meal, haircut, item…);
  • the target: a number of visits, a total amount spent, or both.
Maquis Chez Tantine
Abidjan, 10 visits = a free garba
  1. An office worker from the neighbourhood has lunch at Tantine's 3 times a week.
  2. On the 10th meal, his app tells him his next dish is free.
  3. On his next visit, the cashier confirms the reward and a new card begins.

Lunch is at Tantine's, and nowhere else.

Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum tiers

How it works

The more often a customer comes, the higher their tier and the higher their cashback. Tiers are worked out over a rolling period (for example the last 60 days): if they visit less often, they drop back down automatically.

Their app shows exactly what is missing: "Just 2 more visits before 24/10 to reach Gold".

What it does for you

Your best customers are recognised and rewarded more, and they want to keep their tier. You can also target them in your SMS campaigns.

You set

  • for each tier: the number of visits, the period and the cashback rate;
  • if you wish, a minimum amount spent, on top of the visits or instead of them.
Salon Belle Afrique
Douala, over a rolling 60 days
  1. Bronze: 2% cashback, the standard rate.
  2. Silver from 3 visits: 3%. Gold from 5 visits: 4%. Platinum from 8 visits: 5%.
  3. A Gold customer who spends 20,000 F on her braids earns 800 points instead of 400.

Your regulars have a reason not to try the salon across the street.

Happy hour

How it works

On the days and time slot you choose, every visit counts double (or more) towards the next tier. Cashback stays the same: it is progress that speeds up. So it works together with tiers.

What it does for you

You fill your quiet hours and ease the rush hours, without discounting your prices.

You set

The days, the time slot and the multiplier (×2, ×3…).

Café Le Baobab
Lomé, Monday to Thursday 3 to 6 pm, visits ×2
  1. In the morning the café is packed. In the afternoon it is empty.
  2. A customer who drops by at 4 pm gets 2 visits instead of 1 towards their tier.
  3. Regulars aim for Gold and move their break to the afternoon.

More customers in quiet hours, without lowering your prices.

Birthday gift

How it works

For their birthday, customers receive free points to use within 7 days. BANDA reminds them 7 days, 3 days and the day before. One notification per shop, so they are never flooded.

What it does for you

An almost guaranteed visit at a time when people like to treat themselves, often with company. And a personal touch that people remember.

You set

The number of free points.

Boutique Wax & Co
Dakar, 2,000 free points
  1. A week before her birthday, a customer is told about her gift.
  2. She comes in with a friend to pick an outfit for the party.
  3. She pays 2,000 F less, and her friend discovers the shop.

One more sale at the right moment, and maybe a new customer.

Customer referral

How it works

Each customer has a personal code for your shop. They give it to someone close, who enters it in their app. When the new customer makes their first purchase with you, the referrer receives their bonus in points. Referral only counts for someone who has never shopped with you, and only the first code entered counts.

What it does for you

Your happy customers become your best salespeople. You only reward genuinely new customers, once they have bought something.

You set

The referrer's bonus, in points.

Pressing Éclat
Libreville, 1,000-point bonus
  1. A loyal customer sends his code to his colleagues on WhatsApp.
  2. Three of them enter it and drop off their suits.
  3. He receives 3,000 points: a free cleaning.

Three new customers, paid for only once they actually came.

Shop partnerships

How it works

You team up with a neighbouring or complementary shop in the same country: one proposes, the other accepts in their app. Points earned at one can be spent at the other. At the till, the customer's points from your shop are used first, then those from your partners.

What it does for you

Your partner's customers come to you, and your points are worth more in your customers' eyes. Either side can pause the partnership at any time; the other is notified.

You set

Who you partner with, and when you stop.

Maquis Chez Tantie Akissi and Boulangerie du Plateau
Abidjan, same neighbourhood
  1. A customer earns points having lunch at the maquis.
  2. In the morning, he spends them on bread and coffee at the bakery next door.
  3. The bakery does the same for its morning customers, who discover the maquis.

Two shops sharing customers instead of fighting over them.

The shops in these examples are fictional. Amounts are in CFA francs for illustration only; BANDA works in your country's currency.
